Serving the Church by Reaching the Children

January Update — January 15, 2017

January Update

Released Time Bible Classes have been going well this month.  I am talking with the boys and girls about having victory over sin.  Part of the lesson explains that what we allow into our minds through what we see and listen to affects what we say and do.  If we “feed” the sinful nature, it will grow stronger.  If we choose to look at and listen to things that please God, we will grow in Godliness.  We are also talking about our bodies being temples and the Holy Spirit living in us to help us after we have received Jesus as Savior.

New children have come to class this month, so our numbers are growing.  Nine children have prayed to receive Christ as Savior.  It has been a good month so far!

Calhoun County RTBC — January 5, 2017

Calhoun County RTBC

I have been asked which schools in Calhoun County have Released Time Bible Classes.  Below is the list if you are interested.  They are taught by Al Ross and he does a great job.  If your child attends one of these schools, you can ask for a permission slip in the school office, sign it and return it to the office and your child can attend.

End of December Update — December 31, 2016

End of December Update

As I look back over the month of December, I am happy to report that 29 children prayed to receive Jesus as Savior during Released Time Bible Classes!  There were also 5 children who talked with a helper about assurance of salvation.  Please join me in praying for these children, that they will grow in their faith as they complete the follow up lessons and that those who do not attend church will get connected with a Bible believing church.  I am looking forward to more opportunities to teach these children in 2017!

Visiting Churches — September 13, 2016

Visiting Churches

Today I traveled 134 miles visiting 47 churches in Kalamazoo County (I still have several churches left that I didn’t get to today).  I stopped in each church to give information about the Released Time Bible Classes that will be going on this year in the public schools near their churches.  I gave them a schedule for the classes and some permission slips to share with the public school children who attend their church.  I also gave them the information below.  I would ask you to join these churches and myself in praying for these classes.

Please Pray.

Pray for the children to come.

Pray for the schools.

Pray for God’s Spirit to use God’s Word to help children.

Please Promote.

Encourage people to get the children signed up to come.

Hand out these fliers to people at your church and in your neighborhoods.

Please Participate.

If anyone is interested helping in a class please contact, Amy Wichterman, RBM Missionary

Parents are welcome to come visit the classes.

Released Time Bible Class Training Day — September 6, 2016

Released Time Bible Class Training Day

Today I had the privilege of meeting with the other RBM missionaries to go over the curriculum for this year’s Released Time Bible Classes.  I always enjoy spending time with and learning from the other missionaries.  This year’s curriculum is the “God Gives Us. . . ” series.  I am looking forward to further studying the lessons in preparation of teaching the children.

Summer at Camp Barakel — August 31, 2016

Summer at Camp Barakel

I had a great summer serving at Camp Barakel.  I’ve been back home for a couple of weeks now, but wanted to share a little more with you about my time at camp.

My main job, as I shared in another post, was a lifeguard.  I was the “buddy checker” and kept track of who entered and exited the waterfront.  My brother-in-law was the head lifeguard and we had fun working together and with all of the other lifeguards.  I also loved talking with the kids as they came in and out of the swimming area.

Another job I had was “mail lady.”  My sister and I did this job together.  Four days a week, we picked up the camper and staff mail that was going out of camp, took it into the post office in town, and came back with all of the mail and packages that were coming to the campers and staff.  It was fun to see all of the packages and letters arriving.  Some days, we had several totes of mail that we had to take back to camp.  By the end of the summer we had become good friends with Carole, the lady who worked at the Fairview Post Office!  My sister and I also did other work in the camp office when we had time.  One of these jobs was getting packets of materials ready for the counselors each week.  We also helped prepare for the arrival of the Hisability campers, a fun week of camp designed especially for people with special needs.

On Mondays, when the campers went home, everyone spent the morning cleaning to get ready for the next group of campers.  It is a big camp, so there is always a lot of cleaning to do.

It is always a privilege to be a part of the work at Camp Barakel.  I am thankful that so many kids are able to come and have the Good News about Jesus shared with them.  It was a great summer!

Permission Slips Out To Schools — August 25, 2016

Permission Slips Out To Schools

2016-08-24 19.42.55

Today I spent the day visiting schools.  These are the schools I will be picking kids up from each month.  I will then, with the help of volunteers, take the kids to a nearby church and teach a Bible lesson to them.  I went to the school offices and gave them Released Time Bible Class permission slips for each classroom.  Please pray with me that parents will fill out these forms and return them to the school offices so that many children can participate in the classes.

If you know any kids who attend these schools, please tell them about Released Time Bible Classes so they can sign up!

I also teach a preschool class at Kids Crossing Learning Center (a ministry of Chapman Memorial Nazarene Church in Vicksburg).  Permission slips are not needed for this class as all of the children in the preschool attend the Bible class.

These are just the classes I will be teaching.  There are MANY more classes going on in public schools throughout the state of Michigan.  Check with your school to see if you can sign your kids up for a class or contact the RBM office to see if there is a class going on at your public school.  For more information about Released Time Bible Classes, go the RBM Ministries website, or click here.
